My daughter was six when I first started twisting balloons. At that point I did it to reward children in Sunday school. As time went by I bought books, went to conferences and learned new and different balloons. Occasionally someone would ask if I could make balloons at a party or event. It was a fun hobby.
My daughter grew up, as daughters do, she is now 29, I still work with balloons. Today I do balloons at restaurants, birthday parties, and various events. I am on my third year at Big Bear Lake for “Friday Nights in the Village”. I have twisted balloons two years in a row at the Reptile Super Show at the Pomona Fairplex. I have a great time twisting balloons for the children and adults.
In the last few years I have been asked to decorate with balloon on several occasions. The largest decorations I have made contained just fewer than 1000 balloons. I have made centerpieces, arches, columns, and various holiday decorations.
I started my company, Ron’s Balloons, when I felt that I was making too much money to call it just a hobby. Since then things have just kept growing. There have been many weekends where I have to turn people down because I am fully booked.
Some people may ask, Why are you still playing with balloons?” to them I say It is still fun and the smiles I see on the Children’s faces are priceless
